PREVOST CONSTRUCTION COMPLETES TENANT IMPROVEMENTS FOR JADE THEATER
SAN DIEGO - Prevost Construction recently completed a $1.5 million building conversion and customized tenant improvement project for San Diego's hottest new night spot - Jade Theater, located near the Gaslamp Quarter in downtown San Diego.
The Asian-inspired restaurant and nightclub, located at 701 C Street, features 14,000 square feet of indoor space on three spectacular floors as well as 5,000 square feet of outdoor space. Prevost Construction oversaw every aspect of the building's transformation from its previous office use and played a key role in assuring all contracted parties functioned in a timely and cost-effective manner.
"The Jade Theater owners had a vision to create an environment that would exemplify the character and beauty of the Asian influence to the highest level," said Jamie Prevost, president of Prevost Construction. "Our team managed every aspect of the construction and project management process to ensure that every detail was carefully attended to."
Prevost's scope of work included structural upgrades for restaurant use, custom fabricated stainless steel and glass handrails along the staircase and upper balconies, and hard surface tile flooring mixed with carpet and wood flooring accenting the Asian design. Extensive plumbing and mechanical upgrades included upsizing the gas service to provide for the new kitchen equipment, new electrical distribution and high-end lighting featuring 22 different types of light fixtures in coordination with Tazz lighting design.
The results of the 18-month effort are visibly evident in the final product that features just the right mix sophistication and cultural influence. The inviting lounge, dining and nightclub areas reflect nature's balance through a light-dark, yin-yang design, state-of-the-art lighting, a $300,000 sound system, sophisticated yet comfortable furnishings, and dramatic textures. The use of bamboo accents and strategically placed Buddha statues add to the "Shanghai" ambience.
Designed by Japanese-born architect/designer, Takumi Zing, in collaboration with OCIO Design Group every level of the Jade Theater is unique beginning with the dramatic main entrance and lounge that opens to the second floor. The main level with restaurant-syle seating, features frosted glass room dividers showcasing theme-inspired bamboo stalks. Upstairs is an all-white private seating mezzanine that overlooks the first floor. The downstairs lounge offers black leather couches with dim red lighting.
