PREVOST CONSTRUCTION COMPLETES TENANT IMPROVEMENTS AT VIASAT

Carlsbad, Calif. - Prevost Construction has completed tenant improvements for The Roast House at ViaSat's corporate headquarters in Carlsbad, Calif. The new venue, which features environmentally sensitive interior finishes, was built to create a balance between work and relaxation for its 1,200 employees in ViaSat's eight-building Carlsbad campus.

ViaSat is a premier designer and producer of advanced digital communications products that enable fast, secure and efficient communications to any location for commercial and government applications. The company hired Prevost Construction for the project which included the exterior landscape renovation, remodel and conversion of two conference rooms to create the Roast House employee lounge.

"Prevost Construction did an excellent job of meeting all our goals with this space," said Gerard Tanksley, project manager at ViaSat. "The Prevost team brings an innate passion for its work and strong leadership to its projects. Jamie Prevost leads the project team and devotes personal time and attention to every job setting them apart from some other contractors."

Kristineh Hiett was the project manager with Prevost Construction and Tom Kingsley was the superintendent.

The Roast House was designed by Ferguson Pape Baldwin Architects. According to Job Captain Laura Lisauskas, the San Diego-based architectural firm's vision for the lounge was to create a warm contemporary feel. "The main lounge area is defined by sectional leather sofas, exotic wood furniture and a few rocking chairs as a fun eclectic accent and the space is enriched with local art work exhibits selected as part of a community charity program ViaSat has adopted."

Environmentally sensitive materials such as bamboo and linoleum were used as well as quartz stone and leather which are durable. In addition to the self-serve premium coffee machines, The Roast House offers free juices, fruits and healthful snacks to help encourage healthy eating habits among employees.

"ViaSat's employees are its most important resource and they wanted to create a workplace with amenities that encouraged interaction," said Jamie Prevost, president of Prevost Construction. "The lounge provides a perfect space for employees to take a break, grab a coffee or snack, or simply socialize with co-workers."

The Roast House is the latest in a series of campus improvement projects ViaSat has completed. Other campus amenities include a workout room with lockers and showers, a basketball court and volleyball courts.

Subcontractors for The Roast House included Suncoast Drywall, National Electric Works, Spartan Plumbing, Green Mechanical, General Coatings, Foreman Tile and Mission Valley Cabinets.
