Prevost Construction recently completed a 10,278-square-foot
renovation of a chemistry and biology lab for Apoptos, a cancer
research firm. Prevost Construction was retained by the building's
owner, BioMed Realty, for the project which is located in the Torrey
Pines area of La Jolla. The project included the partial conversion of the
existing biology lab to a chemistry lab. This required the installation of
anew 20-ton air handler to support 10 new fume hoods and a tissue
culture lab. New lab benches were provided throughout with distribution
of nitrogen gas, compressed air, and vacuum to support the tenant's
equipment including several mass spectrometers and a new NMR.
