Originally a landmark property in El Cajon in its early years, this building was originally constructed as a large community bank in 1952. Renovation of the historic building featured extensive exterior improvements including new exterior windows, new entry storefronts with accent features, and installation of new mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems throughout the fifty-two year old building. The entire building interior was demolished and reconstructed to provide office space for the Union Tribune’s reporting staff, community relations personnel, and classified advertising functions. The original bank vault doors were restored and serve as the entry to the company’s main conference room.
